Proper preparation and aftercare help you get the most from your treatment and support healing.

Before your session Arrive with clean skin and let your therapist know about any medications, skin conditions, or recent treatments. Avoid sun exposure, tanning, and active products such as retinoids and exfoliating acids in the days beforehand, as advised.

After your session Expect mild redness and warmth, similar to light sunburn, usually settling within 24–48 hours. Use only gentle cleanser and moisturiser, and avoid makeup for the first 24 hours.

Sun protection Apply broad-spectrum SPF daily and avoid direct sun. Skip heavy exercise, saunas, and steam for a couple of days while your skin recovers.

Monitor your progress Keep regular sessions and note changes in texture, tone, and firmness to guide your ongoing plan.

Microneedling is generally safe for most clients when performed by trained professionals using sterile, single-use tips and appropriate technique.

Temporary sensations Redness, mild swelling, tightness, and dryness or flaking are common and typically settle within a few days.

Contraindications Microneedling is not suitable over active acne, skin infections, cold sores, or open wounds, or with eczema or psoriasis in the treatment area. It's also not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with a tendency to keloid scarring, with blood-clotting disorders or blood-thinning medication, after recent isotretinoin use, or with a history of skin cancer in the area.
